Got a favorite Midlands hot dog spot? Vote in Round 2 of our bracket: The Flavorful 8
Just like a hot dog bun, the field has been sliced.
Readers cast their votes in the first round of The State’s 2022 Hot Dog Bracket, identifying some of their favorite spots in the Midlands. The field started with 16 places selected by The State’s staff, then readers chose the top eight out of that initial group.
The voters went heavy on locally-owned places in the first round. Leading the way was Zesto, which narrowly edged Rush’s for the top spot in the opening frame, though several other hog dog joints were right on their heels.
Now we are asking readers to whittle the bracket down again by selecting their top four favorites out of the remaining field in the poll below. This is absolutely not a scientific or all-encompassing poll. But we know readers have strong opinions about what constitutes a proper hot dog.
You have until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, to cast votes in Round 2, the Flavorful 8. Then look for Round 3, the Franks 4, beginning Thursday, May 12.
