SC gas price breaks record-high after 14 years. Here’s the fuel cost in your city

South Carolina broke a 14-year record high for average regular gasoline Friday morning as fuel costs continue to skyrocket across the country ahead of the summer travel season.

South Carolina reported a $4.13-average price for a gallon of regular gasoline, replacing the previously recorded all-time high of $4.12 a gallon, according to AAA South Carolina. The state’s average was $4.11 on Thursday and $2.85 this time a year ago.

The state still trails behind the national average of $4.43 a gallon, also a record-high price.

Increasing gas demand and rising oil prices have pushed pump prices higher. Pump prices will likely face upward pressure as oil prices remain above $105 per barrel, AAA South Carolina says.

“Since global supply remains tight and the market remains highly volatile, crude prices will likely continue to fluctuate this week, potentially pushing pump prices even higher ahead of what’s expected to be a busy summer travel season,” said Tiffany Wright, spokeswoman for AAA South Carolina.

Some cities in South Carolina have already broken their record high gas prices, while others are still creeping near that ceiling. Here’s a list of where the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline falls across the state as of Friday morning, according to AAA South Carolina.
