White Knoll High School campus secure after deputies probe possible security threat

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said the campus of a Midlands high school was secure on Friday afternoon after deputies investigated a possible threat.

“White Knoll High School campus secure,” the sheriff’s department shared on social media at about 2 p.m. Friday. “We’ve identified and located the student associated with the potential security threat. Investigators are interviewing that student. Stay tuned to (Lexington School District One social media) for more information about end-of-day procedures and details.”

Deputies had responded to the campus at about 12:30 Friday after getting tips about a potential threat. The sheriff’s department said initially that the school had “restricted student and staff movement on the campus as a precaution.”

No injuries were reported.

White Knoll High School is on Platt Springs Road in Lexington County. About 2,000 students attend school there.
