5 Memorial Day weekend 2022 events in the Columbia SC area
From beaches to camping or simple backyard grilling, there’s plenty of ways to spend your Memorial Day weekend in South Carolina.
But why not try something a bit more organized or different this year?
In the Columbia area this year, you could attend a Memorial Day ceremony, participate in an organized run, party by Lake Murray or do more than one event if you choose.
Below are five organized Columbia-area events for the Memorial Day weekend.
Raise the Colors
When: Monday at 7:30 a.m.
Where: Savage Craft Ale Works at 430 Center St., West Columbia
Cost: $40
If you want to get some good exercise over Memorial Day, then perhaps the Raise the Colors: A Memorial Day Remembrance Run is for you.
According to the organizers’ website, the event is not just a workout, however. It gives you the opportunity to humble yourself through a bit of sweat and pain to honor those that sacrificed everything for our freedom.
So, join law enforcement in Lexington County along with Sorinex, Savage Craft Ale Works and Shellback Tactical to honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Immediately following the ruck march, Franklin Defense will host a “Murph” in honor of those who made the ultimate sacrifice. The workout consists of a 1-mile run, followed by 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and ends with another 1-mile run. The Murph is also a free event open to the public.
