Fine dining alert: New upscale fusion restaurant in the Vista opens this week

A new upscale restaurant and lounge in Columbia’s Vista district is set to open this week, after months of anticipation.

Silk Restaurant and Lounge, which advertises an upscale atmosphere and top-quality dining, will officially open this week with help from city officials at a formal ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon.

The multi-level “fusion” restaurant and cocktail lounge is located at 902 Gervais St., replacing the Carolina Strip Club steakhouse that closed in 2019.

Daquan Doyle, owner of Charlotte’s XO Hookah Lounge, will operate Silk in Columbia, as first reported by the Post and Courier.

The business aims to cater to the after-college crowd. A dress code prohibiting ripped or baggy clothes, athletic wear or “overly casual attire” will be enforced at the business, according to the restaurant’s Instagram page. It will focus on complex cocktails and a variety of fusion-style foods.

The restaurant will be on the first floor and offer indoor and outdoor seating. The business advertises a “5-star dining experience.”

The cocktail lounge on the building’s second floor “will be a high energy vibe great for Date Night or simply just a night out in the Vista,” according to the business’ social media.

Anxious customers can preview the new restaurant and cocktail lounge on its Instagram page, @silkloungevista.

The grand opening ceremony is at 1 p.m. Thursday. Columbia Councilman Ed McDowell will be present, along with city economic development officials.
