Every day thousands of cars stream down North Lake Drive near Lake Murray in the Irmo area.

Soon those cars will have a new place to pull over if they are in need of repair.

Christian Brothers Automotive, a national auto repair chain that has locations in 30 states, is set to open a new facility at 8079 Irmo Drive. That’s near the intersection with North Lake Drive in the Irmo area close to Lake Murray. A Publix shopping center sits on the northeast side of that intersection.

Construction is well underway on the auto shop, and a sign there lists it as coming soon. The Christian Brothers website also lists the shop as coming soon and said there will likely be special offers when the location has its grand opening.

The Christian Brothers location is coming to a busy stretch of road in a fast-growing area. State Department of Transportation data indicates about 15,000 cars per day travel down that corridor.

This will be the second Christian Brothers location in the Midlands. The other is at 148 Old Cherokee Road in Lexington. Other South Carolina locations include Goose Creek, Greenville and Tega Cay.

Christian Brothers offers a wide range of automotive services, including air conditioning repair, tune-ups, brake work and much more.
