Lexington is getting a new Japanese ramen restaurant in this bustling commercial area

Midlands residents will soon have a new spot for ramen noodle bowls and other Japanese dishes.

Hokkaido Ramen House is coming to 205 Columbia Ave. suite B in Lexington. That’s in a shopping center that also includes Domino’s, Brothers and Beer, New China and other businesses. The shopping center is right behind a Rush’s restaurant.

There is a sign at the restaurant saying it is coming soon, though an opening date is not offered. Building permits are posted in the windows, and construction has been going on inside.

Hokkaido is a small chain that has been growing in recent years, according to its website. It has a number of restaurants in Montana and Idaho and has been expanding to other states such as Indiana, Illinois and Texas.

There is not yet a menu posted for the Lexington Hokkaido Ramen House location. However, menus for other locations include listings for a host of ramen bowls and other dishes. For instance, other Hokkaido locations serve a miso ramen that has “rich pork and light chicken broth (with a) garlic & soy bean base” and toppings that include a slice of grilled pork, fried onions, sweet corn, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts and scallions.

The Hokkaido Ramen House in Lexington is coming to a high-traffic, bustling commercial corridor. Aside from the aforementioned businesses in the shopping center where it will be located, there is also the Shoppes at Flight Deck shopping center just to the west, a Walgreen’s on the corner across the intersection of Columbia Avenue and West Main Street and a McDonald’s across the street, among other businesses.

State Department of Transportation traffic counts show 33,500 cars per day come down that section of Columbia Avenue.
