A spot for sweet treats near Columbia’s Fort Jackson is closing its doors.
Vampire Penguin Shaved Snow and Dessert Shop, located at 106 Percival Road suite 200, announced on Instagram and Facebook that the shop would be closing effective July 17. There also is a note on the door about the closure. The shop’s last days will be this Thursday through Sunday, from 3 to 9 p.m. each day.
“We appreciate each and every one of you that have supported us,” the business posted on social media. “We have enjoyed getting to know you. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!”
The business has been open for less than a year, having opened its doors last fall.
The Percival Road Vampire Penguin location is not far from Fort Jackson and Interstate 77. It is in a small shopping trip that also includes a Wing Stop and a Panera Bread, among other businesses.
There are Vampire Penguin locations across the nation, including several in South Carolina. The only other Midlands location is in Lexington at 5076 Sunset Blvd., near Target.
Vampire Penguin is known for its shaved snow desserts adorned with any number of fruity and sweet toppings, including strawberries, pineapple, Oreo, brownie bites and many more.
