Search ends for missing 10-year-old girl who was last seen in Richland County
The search for a missing Columbia girl has ended.
Heni Yolanda Cinto Navarro was located in another state late Monday afternoon, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. The 10-year-old is safe, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.
Information on where Heni was found, and how she got there, was not available.
Heni was publicly reported missing by the sheriff’s department hours after the 10-year-old was last seen at about 8 a.m. Sunday, when she left her home near William Hardin Road, the sheriff’s department said. That’s near the intersection of Hard Scrabble Road and Farrow Road.
There was no word if Heni was considered a runaway, or if she was alone when she was last seen.
The sheriff’s department said details regarding Heni’s disappearance remain under investigation.
The FBI assisted the sheriff’s department in the search for Heni.
“I can’t thank the community and the FBI enough for their assistance in this case,” Lott said. “I am happy to announce that Heni was successfully recovered and is safe.”
Lott thanked the community for quickly sharing information about the missing girl.
