Pedestrian who died crossing West Columbia intersection identified

A 53-year-old Columbia man who died Tuesday morning while crossing a West Columbia highway has been identified.

Milton Timothy Decker died while crossing Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia near Saluda Woods Place, according to a statement from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fischer. He was hit by a vehicle and died at the scene from the injuries sustained during the crash.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle involved in the collision were not injured.

The West Columbia Police Department is investigating the crash, according to the coroner.
