A popular Vista restaurant is set to move to Main Street.

Kao Thai Cuisine, which has been located in a former Columbia fire station at 1001 Senate St. in the Vista since 2018, plans to move to 1307 Main St., according to a Monday release from the Arnold Companies development firm.

The restaurant is aiming to open in the first quarter of 2023 at 1307 Main. That’s next door to the bustling Cantina 76 Mexican restaurant.

“The 1307 Main Street location is currently being upfitted inside and out and will feature folding glass doors to open the restaurant up to the street for patio seating,” the release said.

The release also notes that Kao Thai offers “modern Thai eats that are commonly found on the streets of Bangkok, as well as a mix of creative Pan-Asian and Asian-American fusion dishes that are fresh and exciting.”

The Main Street version of Kao Thai will expand its hours to offer lunch, as well as dinner. The restaurant also has a full menu of beers and cocktails. The recent release did not say when the Vista Kao Thai location would close.
