The Columbia Fireflies normally light up Segra Park with home runs and fireworks. But this holiday season the team will focus on a different kind of lighting.

The minor league team announced this week that it will host Fireflies Holiday Lights from Nov. 19 to Dec. 31 (excluding Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day), with more than a million colorful LED lights sparkling across Segra Park in the BullStreet District. The team said in a news release that there will be 10 holiday-themed areas throughout the park, along with shopping, crafts and activities and holiday-themed food and drink. Santa Claus and Fireflies mascot Mason will be there on select nights.

“Our goal is to help make Columbia a Christmas lights destination along with all of the other great holiday light displays across the Midlands,” Fireflies President Brad Shank said in a statement. “This is a unique new way for us to invite our local community along with guests from across the state of South Carolina out to Segra Park during the winter months and our team is excited to show a creative way to celebrate the holidays in the BullStreet District.”

The Fireflies Holiday Lights will go from 6 to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. From Nov. 19 to Dec. 16, kids tickets will be $9 Sunday through Thursday and $11 on Friday and Saturday, and adult tickets will be $12 Sunday through Thursday and $14 on Friday and Saturday. Then, from Dec. 17-31, kids tickets will be $12 and adults will be $16 each night. Kids 2 and under get in free.
