Lexington woman dies in SC crash on Platt Springs Road

A Lexington woman died in a car crash Tuesday morning on Platt Springs Road, the Lexington County Coroner’s Office said.

Takkia Sierra Dawkins, 37, attempted to turn onto Platt Springs from Sandy Springs Lane about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, when her vehicle was struck by another car heading west on Platt Springs, according to a news release.

Dawkins was wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said.

A minor in Dawkins’ vehicle and the other driver of the other car also had their seatbelts on in the crash, the coroner said. They were taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
