Follow the ‘Smoke’: A Midlands BBQ food truck opens a takeout restaurant. Here’s where
A long-running Midlands barbecue food truck has opened a brick-and-mortar takeout restaurant location.
Smoke It Up Food Truck, which has been a popular food truck in the Columbia area for a number of years, now has a restaurant spot at 10071 Broad River Road in Irmo. That’s about a mile and a half west of Interstate 26.
The restaurant version of Smoke It Up opened on Dec. 1, per posts on its social media channels. The location on Broad River Road is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or until it’s sold out) on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In a recent Facebook video, the inside of the new takeout spot was revealed, including a mural of a food truck painted by Columbia artist Ija Charles.
“It has been 5 years since we started Smoke It Up Food Truck and because of all our Smoke It Up friends and supporters we now have a new location to support our food trucks and NOW takeout Restaurant!,” Smoke It Up announced on its website.
A full schedule for Smoke It Up, including the restaurant and the trucks, can be found at smokeitupfoodtruck.com. Menu items at the Irmo location include smoked chicken, chopped pork, brisket, ribs, chicken sandwiches, peach cobbler and more.
