Roads re-open at busy Columbia intersection following cut gas line

The Columbia Fire Department has announced that a gas leak has been stopped and traffic should be resuming along Rosewood Drive and South Beltline Boulevard.

Traffic was backed up Thursday afternoon in the area of Rosewood Drive and South Beltline Boulevard due to a cut gas line, which has now been resolved.

The leak caused the intersection of Rosewood Drive and South Beltline to close. Traffic along South Beltline Boulevard up to Devine Street was impacted, along with Rosewood to Garners Ferry, according to fire department spokesman Mike DeSumma.

There have been no injuries and no evacuations, DeSumma said.

The fire department said that representatives of Dominion Energy were able to get to the scene to stop the gas leak.

“We’re hoping to have the roads re-opened soon,” DeSumma said.
