A new Dollar General has popped up in Lexington. Check out where it opened
Yellow things continue to spring up along the roadways of the Midlands, and we’re not referring to South Carolina’s state flower, the yellow jessamine.
Dollar General, the ubiquitous discount store with the instantly recognizable yellow signs, has recently opened a new location in Lexington. It’s located at 472 Wise Ferry Road, near the intersection of Wise Ferry and Old Cherokee roads. Old Cherokee Road, northwest of downtown Lexington, is densely packed with residential subdivisions and homes.
“The addition of our new Lexington store highlights our commitment to deliver a pleasant shopping experience that includes great prices on quality products in a convenient location,” Dollar General senior vice president of real estate and store development Matthew Simonsen said in a release. “We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store and hope they will enjoy shopping at our new location.”
Dollar General has more than 18,000 stores nationwide, and has continued to grow its footprint in South Carolina. There are 24 Dollar Generals in the Lexington area west of Columbia, according to a store locator tool on the company’s website.
As for the new Dollar General spot at 472 Wise Ferry Road, it’s in an area that sees a steady volume of traffic. According to S.C. Department of Transportation traffic count data, about 11,000 cars per day pass down Old Cherokee Road near the new store, and about 4,400 cars per day pass down that section of Wise Ferry.
