SC man dies after being hit by a train
A 70-year-old Greer man died after being struck by a train Thursday.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified him as Randall Edward Palmer. He died of blunt force trauma and the incident was determined to be an accident.
The Coroner’s Office said Palmer was walking along the tracks as the train went by not too far from downtown Greer at 2:45 p.m. He was hit when he went through the crossing gate, the coroner said in a news release..
The site at Able and Moore streets was blocks from his home on Cannon Avenue.
Palmer died at the scene.
