Injury reported in Lexington County house fire that’s under investigation, officials say
One person was hurt and more lost their home following a fire, Lexington County officials said Sunday.
At about 8 a.m. Saturday, the Lexington County Fire Service responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Huggins Street, according to officials. That’s in the Red Bank area of Lexington County near the intersection of Platt Springs Road and South Lake Drive.
Flames could be seen coming from the home when firefighters arrived at the scene, officials said.
Information about how long it took to extinguish the fire was not available.
One person was taken to an area hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Further information on that person’s condition was not available.
Five people were displaced because of the fire, according to officials. The American Red Cross said it is helping the people by providing financial assistance for immediate needs such as food, clothing, and shelter, along with referrals to much needed resources.
Information about the extent of the damages, and if the home was considered a total loss was not available.
There was no word on where the fire originated, but the cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said. They did not say if foul play was suspected.
