A Columbia Bed Bath & Beyond store will close as company’s struggles continue
National retailer Bed Bath & Beyond is closing one of of its Columbia stores.
The Bed Bath & Beyond at 10136 Two Notch Road in Columbia is planning to close, according to a store closing list from the company and signage posted at the store. The Bed Bath & Beyond on Two Notch is in a busy retail corridor that includes a number of nearby national brands, including Five Below, PetSmart, Best Buy, Olive Garden, Target and others.
A closing date for the Two Notch store was not announced.
There are two other Bed Bath & Beyond locations in Columbia, one at 136 Harbison Blvd. and another at 6090 Garners Ferry Road. Neither of those units were on the store closing list released by the company on Tuesday.
The Bed Bath & Beyond company announced in September 2022 that it would be closing 150 of its more than 700 stores nationwide. An initial, smaller list of stores was released, and the remainder of the list of 150 was made public Tuesday. According to a Jan. 5 story from The New York Times, the home goods retailer recently warned investors that bankruptcy was a potential option for the company as it looks to chart a path forward.
As for the Two Notch Road location in Columbia, there is a large, red banner strung across the front of the store announcing a closing sale. “Nothing held back!” announces one sign. “Entire store on sale,” said another.
