A Columbia Mexican restaurant that has long been a favorite of many in the capital city now has set its sights across the river.

Tacos Nayarit, which currently has a location at 1531 Percival Road, announced on its social media channels that it is planning an additional restaurant at 1100 Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce. That’s in a former bank building, right next door to the Ocean View seafood restaurant.

“We are excited to announce our next project is coming to Cayce/Downtown Cola!” Tacos Nayarit said in a Facebook post, which noted the restaurant is aiming to open in the spring or summer.

In a separate Facebook post, Tacos Nayarit said it was in the demolition phase of construction on the new spot and would keep customers updated on when the Cayce spot would open.

Tacos Nayarit is known as one of the best Mexican restaurants in Columbia and has a colorfully decorated spot on Percival Road that features indoor and outdoor dining. It has a menu that includes traditional tacos, birria tacos, torta sandwiches, quesadillas, tostadas and much more.

This marks the second expansion announcement for Tacos Nayarit in a short time period. In August, it announced it would be building a new restaurant at 1720 Lake Murray Blvd. in Irmo. In response to a question from a commenter on the recent Facebook post about the coming Cayce restaurant, Tacos Nayarit said the Irmo location is still in the works.

“After this project is done, we will move forward with the Irmo location,” Tacos Nayarit said in the post.
