A new location for the nation’s largest pizza chain will pull into the station in a Columbia suburb.

There is a new Domino’s Pizza being built in Irmo. It’s at the northeast corner of Lake Murray Boulevard and Woodrow Street, near St. Andrews Road.

While an opening date has not been publicly announced for the location, construction was ongoing at the site as of Monday morning. Signage at the property declares that a Domino’s is “arriving soon,” with the Domino’s logo shown on an illustration of a train. The restaurant, which sits not far from a rail line, is being built with the aesthetic look of an old-fashioned train station.

As noted in a 2021 story about the project from TV station WLTX, the property was once home to a furniture store for many years.

The new Domino’s is being built in a bustling, high-traffic corridor. According to S.C. Department of Transportation statistics, more than 26,000 cars per day pass down Lake Murray Boulevard near the site, while more than 18,000 cars per day travel down St. Andrews road nearby.

As noted by industry website franchisechatter.com, Domino’s remains the largest pizza chain in the U.S., with more than 6,500 locations. There are at least 19 Domino’s locations currently in the Midlands area, per the store locator tool on the company’s website.
