A coming restaurant that will specialize in Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and New Orleans po’ boys has revealed where it will be located in Columbia.

Banh Mi Boys announced in recent posts on its social media channels that it will be located at 625 Whaley St. suite C. That’s right across the street from The Olympia Mills, a massive apartment complex that is popular with students, located about a mile and a half north of Williams-Brice Stadium.

Banh Mi Boys started in the New Orleans area and also is opening a restaurant in Texas this year. Word of the Columbia location started to spread earlier this year, though an exact location wasn’t initially announced. The Columbia restaurant said in Facebook messages that it was aiming for an opening in late April or early May.

Banh mi is a type of Vietnamese sandwich typically built on a baguette. The sandwiches have continued to gain popularity in the U.S. in recent years.

The Banh Mi Boys menu features a number of different twists on the sandwich, including a grilled steak and egg banh mi that comes with pickled carrots, daikon (a type of radish), lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and a special house sauce.

The restaurant also has a number of New Orleans po’ boy sandwiches, including versions of the classic served with shrimp, oysters, roast beef or hamburger. The menu also includes wings, fries and other treats.
