One dead after motorcycle collides with deer in Kershaw County
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating collision in Kershaw County that killed one after a motorcyclist struck a deer, according to officials.
Lance Cpl. Judd Jones, a highway patrol spokesman, said the motorcyclist was traveling on U.S. 1 south of Elgin at about 9 p.m. when the driver struck a deer in the roadway. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle and died from from injuries they sustained.
Jones also said the motorcycle hit a truck that was traveling along the highway, but no injuries were reported from that collision.
The identity of the individual will not be released until the Kershaw County Coroner’s Office has notified the victim’s next of kin.
