As the weather (eventually) heats up, Lexington will soon have a new spot to cool off with a sweet treat.

sweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt yes, it’s a lowercase “s” — is planning a store in the shopping center at 5318 Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. New signage recently went up on the storefront, and it is listed as “coming soon” on the store locator tool on sweetFrog’s website. An opening date is not listed on the site.

The Sunset Boulevard location would be in the midst of one of Lexington’s busiest commercial corridors. It will be near a host of retail businesses, including Hobby Lobby, MOD Pizza, Showmars Greek restaurant, Ulta Beauty and others. That tangle of shops is about a mile west of the Target shopping center in Lexington. About 38,400 cars per day travel down that stretch of Sunset, per S.C. Department of Transportation data.

sweetFrog, which started in Virginia, has grown to more than 300 stores across the U.S. Other locations across South Carolina include spots in Sumter, Florence, Rock Hill and in the Charleston area. There used to be a sweetFrog on South Lake Drive in the Red Bank area, but it closed several years ago.

While flavors vary by location, sweetFrog has a host of different frozen yogurt options, from traditional flavors such as chocolate and strawberry to offerings such as Georgia peach, toasted marshmallow and pineapple upside down cake. And, of course, it has a veritable cornucopia of toppings customers can put on their yogurt, including various fruit, candy, nuts, cereal and more.
