The National Weather Service is warning Columbia and parts of the Midlands to brace for the risk of severe weather Sunday.

Damaging winds and large hail are expected to be the primary hazards, according to a release from the National Weather Service.

The areas of Camden, Columbia, Orangeburg and Sumter are expected to be at risk of the severe weather conditions. The northern areas of the Midlands are not expected to be impacted.

There is a risk of rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across east central Georgia and central South Carolina from late Sunday morning into the afternoon. The weather front is expected to arrive in the Midlands between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. It is expected to clear by 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service expects the system to bring the following:

Damaging winds gusts to 60 mph

Large hail

Isolated weak tornadoes possible
