Boil water advisory issued for customers near Forest Drive, Old Forest Drive
A boil water advisory has been issued for water customers located in the 5300 block to the 5700 block of Forest Drive and all water customers along Old Forest Drive after a water line break occurred Thursday.
The city of Columbia experienced an 18-inch water line break, which could result in bacterial contamination of water in the affected areas. All water customers in the area are urged to boil their water vigorously for one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Any ice made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.
The area appears to include several restaurants including FATZ Cafe, McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A and Pancho’s as well as a nearby Walmart Supercenter.
All food processors and restaurants should comply with prescribed USDA and SC DHEC recommendations, respectively.
