Biscuitville, long a favorite in North Carolina and Virginia, has announced it plans to open several locations in South Carolina.

In the 1960s, when The Beatles and other bands from the United Kingdom gained wide popularity in the U.S., it became known as the British Invasion.

In South Carolina in 2023, it appears it’s time for the Biscuit Invasion.

Biscuitville, a restaurant that for decades has been a popular chain in North Carolina and Virginia, announced Thursday on its website that it is planning a host of locations in South Carolina, including stores in Columbia, Irmo, Greer, Hartsville, Florence, Duncan and Indian Land.

“From the Upstate to the Midlands and over to the Pee Dee, we’re rolling out restaurants in South Carolina,” the company said on its website. “We can’t wait to get to know our new guests and join their communities. ... We know South Carolina is famous for its Southern heritage, long-standing traditions, and local foodie scene. So are we! In fact, USA Today has consistently ranked Biscuitville among its 10 best regional fast-food restaurants.”

The website item did not offer timelines or exact addresses for the Columbia area locations.

The first Biscuitville store opened in 1975 in Danville, Virginia, per Biscuitville’s website. By 1978 there were eight locations open, including in North Carolina. The company now has nearly 70 locations across Virginia and North Carolina. In 2022 it opened a 78,000-square-foot distribution center in Burlington, N.C.

Biscuitville’s menu includes, of course, a host of biscuit sandwiches, including the bacon, egg and cheese; the spicy chicken and honey biscuit; the ultimate country ham biscuit and many others.
