A Greenville County teen found dead in a Greenville motel last year died of an overdose of oxycodone, the Greenville County Coroner announced Tuesday, but the manner of death was listed as undetermined.

Landon Chance Poston, 14, was found dead at InTown Suites on Mauldin Road in Greenville on Nov. 21, 2022, which would have been the teen’s 15th birthday.

His mother Sonja Campbell was found unconscious. She recovered at a Greenville hospital. The coroner’s new release on the death listed Poston’s home address as the motel.

Investigators said there were no obvious signs of physical injury.

When the death was announced, the Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported Poston had been dead for a week.

Poston was a student at Southside High School in Greenville. His mother’s Facebook page shows him holding a report card with a post that says he had an A in every subject.

The case is still being investigated by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
