There’s a new tenant headed to Columbia’s sprawling BullStreet District.

Elliott Davis, an accounting and consulting firm, is set to occupy part of the WestLawn Building, which opened on the property last fall. The office building is located just west of Segra Park baseball stadium, near a Starbucks coffee shop.

Elliott Davis will move into the second floor of WestLawn this fall, bringing more than 80 employees to the site. Elliott Davis’ space in the building will be just less than 20,000 square feet.

“We are looking forward to being a part of the exciting things happening in the BullStreet District,” Elliott Davis CEO Rick Davis said in a statement. “Our new Columbia location, in one of the most unique office buildings in South Carolina, will feature modern amenities and state-of-the-art technology, allowing us to expand the reach of our services and provide more space for our team to collaborate and innovate.”

The WestLawn building was designed by highly regarded architecture firm Perkins&Will. It was constructed using engineered mass timber, making it one of only 400 such buildings in the U.S. In all, the WestLawn building is about 80,000 square feet. Columbia law firm Robinson Gray Stepp & Laffitte moved into the building last fall, and occupies the fourth and fifth floors.

Elliott Davis has more than 800 employees in markets across the U.S.

“Elliott Davis is one of the premier firms of its kind in South Carolina,” Robert Hughes, president of BullStreet master developer Hughes Development, said in a statement. “They’re terrific corporate citizens and will be a great addition to the growing list of businesses and organizations in WestLawn.”

Piece by piece, the redevelopment of the massive, 181-acre BullStreet site continues to take shape. Formerly home to the State Mental Hospital, the site is being reimagined by the city of Columbia and Hughes Development.

A new Publico restaurant opened last year near Segra Park, where the Class A Columbia Fireflies are in the midst of their eighth season.

Construction also is well underway on Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant along Bull Street, and cofounder Mark Edelson recently told The State the brewery is planning a June opening.

The Bennet at BullStreet apartments are under construction near the baseball stadium, and Tupelo Honey Cafe, a popular Asheville-based chain known for Southern cuisine, has announced it plans to have a restaurant on the first floor of the Bennet building.

There are residents living in townhomes on the southeastern part of the site, as well as in the Merrill Gardens senior living complex east of the stadium. Residents also have moved in to parts of the historic Babcock Building, which is in the midst of a more than $50 million redevelopment that will see it turned into apartments.

Meanwhile, the University of South Carolina has long been planning a $300 million medical school campus on the northeast side of the BullStreet property.
