‘Mixed emotions’: A popular restaurant and market near Lake Murray is closing its doors

A popular restaurant and culinary market near Lake Murray has announced it is closing.

Fusco’s Market announced its closure in a post on social media. The last day for the restaurant is Monday, May 22. It’s located at 2900 Dreher Shoals Road, not far from Lake Murray and the town of Irmo.

“It is with mixed emotions that I announce the closing of Fusco’s Market,” owner Michael Fusco posted on the Fusco’s Market Facebook page Sunday. “You, our loyal customers, have supported us for six years and we consider you family. “

The space where Fusco’s is located, in a small shopping center, is available for lease, according to the post.

Staff from Fusco’s Market will soon shift to serving lunches at neighboring Tavern on 6, which currently is only open during the evenings. The lunches will be offered there from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, beginning June 5. Fusco’s Market’s catering services also will also operate out of Tavern on 6, according to the Fusco’s social media post.

Tavern on 6 is located at 2914 Dreher Shoals Road.

Fusco’s offered a host of prepared meals and foods in its market, including salads, dips, casseroles, side dishes and more. And it had a lunch menu that included paninis, reubens, BLTs, club croissants and more. Fusco’s also hosted Italian nights on Wednesdays with various pastas and other Italian dishes.
