The Boys are in town.

Banh Mi Boys, a small restaurant chain that started in the New Orleans area, has officially opened a new location in Columbia, according to a post on the restaurant’s social media channels. It is located at 625 Whaley St. suite C. That’s about a mile and a half north of Williams-Brice Stadium, across the street from sprawling Olympia Mills apartment complex.

“Have you tried us yet?” the Columbia Banh Mi Boys queried on Instagram. “If not, you may be missing out.”

Banh Mi Boys has two locations in the New Orleans area and also has been planning a location in Texas. The shop specializes in Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and has a number of them on the menu in Columbia. One of them is the grilled pork banh mi, which comes with char-grilled lemongrass pork, pickled carrots, jalapeños, cilantro, cucumber and a buttery spread.

The Columbia menu also has a host of po’ boy sandwiches, a signature taste of New Orleans, as well as a number of other items, including spring rolls and egg rolls, rice and vermicelli dishes, salads, spicy Korean fried chicken, and a variety of chicken wings.

The restaurant on Whaley Street also offers a selection of french fries with various toppings , including the K-Town fries that are topped with Korean marinated beef with kimchi bits, a sunny side up egg, kimchi mayo, cilantro, and green onions

Banh Mi Boys Columbia is open from 11 a.m. to 7:40 p.m. Monday through Saturday, per a recent post on its Instagram. The restaurant has colorful illustrations of banh mi and po’ boy sandwiches on its walls and an invitation above its door to “Break Bread With The Boys.”

Banh mi sandwiches seem to be catching on in Columbia. Little Bee Bun Mee in Cayce recently announced it will formally open on July 11 on Knox Abbott Drive, and it already has been having soft opening activities. Also, a Paris Banh Mi location is in the works in northeast Columbia.
