A tractor was seen in an SC pond, then divers found a body, coroner says

A South Carolina man died Wednesday when the tractor he was driving overturned in a pond, the Aiken County Coroner’s Office said.

Donald Webb, Sr., an 81-year-old Jackson resident, drowned to death, Coroner Darryl Ables said.

Although Ables said the death was an accident, both his office and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident.

Ables said the accident happened in the 700 block of Old Jackson Highway in Jackson.

The sheriff’s office said emergency responders went to the scene after the man’s son said he found the tractor in the pond, the Aiken Standard reported.

Divers with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources recovered the man from the pond at about 12:30 p.m., Ables said.

No other injuries were reported.
