All hail the Queen: A new bakery recently opened in the Columbia area. Check out where

A spot for cakes, cookies and plenty of other sweet treats recently opened in Irmo, in the same spot that was formerly home to a different longtime bakery.

ButterKreme Queen Bakery opened in June at 7703-D St. Andrews Road in Irmo. The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.

ButterKreme Queen, which specializes in cakes, mini-cakes, pies, cookies and much more, is in the same spot that formerly was home to Blue Flour Bakery for 17 years. Blue Flour closed in May.

Per the ButterKreme Queen website, the business is owned by chef Jackie Bradley. She is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of Charleston and of the University of South Carolina, where she majored in hotel and restaurant management. ButterKreme Queen describes itself as a “modern bakery with very strong roots in tradition.”
