Columbia’s mayor is willing to take a dunk for a good cause.

The city announced Friday that Mayor Daniel Rickenmann, along with other city officials and community leaders, will take a seat in a dunk tank in the coming weeks as part of a fundraiser for Sistercare, a charity that assists victims of domestic violence.

Rickenmann will appear on Saturday, Aug. 19, in the booth in the parking lot of Columbia City Hall, 1737 Main St. Other tempting targets will also take a seat in the booth from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cash-only dunking booth will return again the following week, Aug. 26.

The event will also feature yard games for the public to play, information tables and popcorn for Sistercare donors. Staff will also be taking sign-ups for the Mayor’s Walk Against Domestic Violence on Oct. 7 at Page Ellington Park.
