A new spot for steaks, ribs, tacos, dessert and more has opened in Lexington.
Southern Smoked Tavern and Steakhouse recently opened its doors at 924 E. Main St. suite C in Lexington. That’s in the same strip that includes Midtown Fellowship church’s Lexington campus. Southern Smoked is in the space that formerly was occupied by Griffin Chophouse.
Posts on the Southern Smoked Facebook page indicated it opened on Aug. 17. The restaurant currently is operating on a limited schedule and will be open this week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, through Sunday, Aug. 27. The restaurant plans to have a full, seven-days-per-week schedule by mid-September, according to social media posts. It is still working through a few remodeling touches and plans to add a 120-inch television ahead of football season.
Southern Smoked is owned by the Happy Fork Hospitality Group, which also has the Chophouse of Chapin and Bakon Southern Eatery in Chapin.
The menu at Southern Smoked features a variety of of offerings, including steaks, baby back ribs, pulled pork, smash burgers, appetizers including burnt end deviled eggs, tacos, salads and more. The restaurant also has a selection of nachos, including burnt end nachos that include pork rinds, hatch green chile queso, smoked pimento cheese, burnt ends with sweet red sauce, pickled red onions and banana peppers.
The restaurant also has a dessert menu that includes, among other things, a chocolate cherry brownie skillet that comes with a brownie, vanilla ice cream and cherry sauce.
Southern Smoked is located along a busy thoroughfare near downtown Lexington. About 28,000 cars travel down that stretch of East Main Street each day, per S.C. Department of Transportation data.
