Severe thunderstorm warning issued for parts of the Midlands

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for several counties in the Midlands.

The advisory was issued for northern Lexington County, southern Fairfield County, northwestern Richland County and southeastern Newberry County.

The storm was located 11 miles northwest of Lexington and moving south at 25 miles per hour around 6 p.m., the advisory said.

Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour.
