A man died in a house fire in West Columbia S.C., over Labor Day weekend.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office has identified a man killed in a West Columbia house fire over the weekend.

Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the man as 65-year-old Victor Emerson Jones.

Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire in the 100 block of Howitzer Circle, near Columbia Metropolitan Airport, just after 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office.

Additional details about the fire were not immediately available. The State has reached out to the West Columbia Fire Department.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sept. 6 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.
