Howard’s Rock trial scheduled for court Monday
A man accused of stealing a portion of Howard’s Rock at Clemson University is scheduled to appear in court Monday in Pickens County.
Micah Rogers, 20, of Pisgah Forest, was indicted on charges of grand larceny and malicious damage to personal property, according to court records.
Authorities say he damaged Howard’s Rock, the pedestal and protective case in June 2013. The damage was valued at more than $10,000, according to an indictment.
Attorney Frank Eppes is representing Rogers, who was 18 at the time he was arrested by the Clemson University Police Department.
Clemson football players rub the iconic fixture during the team’s pre-game entrance into Memorial Stadium. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the vandalism.
