A person was injured and traffic was snarled in downtown Columbia on Friday afternoon after a collision at a major intersection.

According to a tweet from the Columbia Police Department, a cement truck collided with a city of Columbia traffic engineering truck at Main Street and Elmwood Avenue. A worker was repairing a faulty traffic light and was injured in the collision, police said. The worker was taken to a local hospital.

Police said westbound Elmwood Avenue was closed after the collision Friday. Additional CPD officers were on the scene directing traffic as city crews continue to work on the faulty traffic light. Police urged drivers to use caution going through that area.
