A Topgolf in the Columbia area? This site is being considered near a major interstate
Could a Topgolf finally be headed to the Columbia area? It’s possible.
Topgolf, which has sprawling driving range and entertainment complexes across the U.S., is being considered for a site at 309 Paris Road in Lexington County, according to documents in the Lexington County Planning Commission’s September agenda. That Paris Road site is near Interstate 26, just southeast of the interchange with Piney Grove Road.
While the site in question is in Lexington County, it is addressed in Columbia.
In the commercial projects development activity list in the Planning Commission’s September paperwork, there is an item listed for Topgolf Columbia at 309 Paris Road. The Planning Commission paperwork also indicates fees were submitted in August for stormwater management and sediment control for Topgolf Columbia.
The Post and Courier first reported the Topgolf item on Wednesday.
Any potential development on the project at this point is in very early stages, and it has not been formally announced by Topgolf. When asked about the project on Wednesday, Topgolf officials said, “We don’t have news to share regarding a Columbia, SC venue at this time.”
Topgolf has locations across the U.S., including three in South Carolina in North Charleston, Greenville and Myrtle Beach. It also has facilities in nearby Charlotte and Augusta.
Topgolf refers to itself as a sports entertainment complex, where people can use a high-tech driving range facility with climate-controlled hitting bays. The facilities are known for having extensive food and drink menus, as well as music.
