‘Immensely grateful’: A Midlands Chinese restaurant closes its doors after 3 decades
A fixture of the West Columbia dining scene for nearly three decades is closing its doors.
Jin Jin Chinese restaurant, which has long been located at 469 Sunset Blvd. in the Capitol Shopping Center, announced its closure in a Dec. 2 Facebook post.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant after 29 years of serving this wonderful community,” the restaurant posted. “We want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support, loyalty and companionship throughout these cherished years. As our lease comes to an end, we believe it is time to bring this chapter to a close.”
With Jin Jin’s shuttering, the Capitol Shopping Center will be empty.
This marks the second closure announcement of a decades-old West Columbia restaurant in just a couple weeks. Al’s Upstairs Italian restaurant, which has been at 300 Meeting St. for 44 years, plans to close on Dec. 19.
Jin Jin hinted at the possibility of another project in the future.
“Thank you for being an integral part of our story and for making Jin Jin Chinese Restaurant a cherished part of this community,” the restaurant posted on social media. “Hopefully one day we will serve this wonderful community again!”
