Section of Hardscrabble Road remains closed by water main break

A heavily traveled section of Harsdcrabble Road remained closed to traffic Thursday night and ‘until further notice,’ SCDOT officials said.

A 12-inch water main break on the 1700 block of Hardscrabble Road on Wednesday prompted the closure between Powell Road and El Hunter Road where Hardscrabble goes over I-77.

In addition to the road closure, Columbia Water Works officials announced a boil water advisory for customers on the 1700 block of Hardscrabble Road, or near that area, who have experienced a drop or loss of water pressure. People and businesses in the affected area should boil vigorously for 60 seconds any water used for drinking, in food preparation or for making ice.
