Richland County deputies investigate shooting, one wounded

Richland County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that broke out Tuesday evening that wounded one, according to officials.

Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said deputies were dispatched to Castle Pinckney Road near Audubon Avenue in reference to an aggravated assault at 8:30 p.m. When deputies arrived they met with a victim who said he was walking down the street when a dark colored sedan approached.

The victim told deputies that an individual inside the car brandished a handgun and told the victim to “give it up,” Lawrence said. The individual then fired several shots at the victim, striking him once in the lower body, before fleeing the area. The victim was able to walk back to his residence where a family member took him to a local hospital. The victim’s current condition is unknown.
