The body of a kayaker was recovered Thursday afternoon in Lake Carolina in Richland County, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources said.

Daniel M. Larson, 41, of Columbia, overturned in his kayak and did not resurface.

DNR sent its dive team to rescue the Larson. The Columbia-Richland Fire Department also took part in the response and recovered Larson’s body.

“Our thoughts are with the person’s family and loved ones,” DNR said on Twitter.
