A Lexington specialty bakery is closing its storefront operations after four years.

Carolina Keto Cakes announced in a recent Facebook post that it will be closing its shop at 255-B Charter Oak Road in Lexington. Charter Oak is a busy road that cuts between Highway 378 and the Augusta Highway, just north of Lexington High School.

“The past 4 years have been amazing, but the stress of trying to stay afloat in this economy is no longer worth it,” bakery ownership said in the Facebook post. “This journey has been amazing, I have been able to turn my passion into a reality and meet so many wonderful people.”

Saturday, March 16, is set to be the last day for the storefront, though there could be some very limited hours next week, the social media post said. The business said it likely would be doing baking-from-home for special orders at a later date, and its Facebook page would remain open for correspondence and inquiries.

Carolina Keto Cakes specializes in gluten-free and sugar-free baked goods and treats. Over the years it has offered mini bundt cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cheesecake tarts and more.

The bakery’s closure message drew a big reaction on Facebook, with nearly 500 interactions and more than 100 comments in less than a day, with many customers expressing sadness that the store was closing.

“I am so sorry to hear this, this was the only place I could go and enjoy dessert and know I wasn’t going to feel badly afterwards,” one customer wrote. “Thank you for all the yummy treats and all your time, efforts and commitment, you will be missed.”
