Food trucks form bond between police, community

The Columbia Police Department held its second “Food Truck Friday” event at headquarters. The idea is designed to be a way for police to connect more closely with the community over a meal and to showcase vendors. Friday’s offerings included The Haute Dog Lady, Kiki’s Chicken & Waffles and J’s Rainbow Italian Ice. The next event is scheduled for Aug. 7 at headquarters, 1 Justice Square. The department plans to continue Food Truck Friday every other Friday through August, a police spokeswoman said.
