Rock Hill man dies in crash on I-20 in Richland County

A Rock Hill man is dead after a two-car crash Friday night on I-20 in Richland County.

Both cars, a 2008 Mazda and a 2002 Toyota SUV, were traveling east when the SUV changed lanes improperly, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.

The SUV struck the Mazda, then the SUV lost control and flipped several times, officials said.

The driver of the SUV, 68-year-old Kishorchandra Champaklal Dave of Rock Hill, was ejected from the vehicle and died. He was the only occupant in the vehicle and was not wearing a seatbelt, officials said.

The driver of the Mazda was transported to Palmetto Health Richland hospital with unknown injuries.
