‘This is bittersweet’: A Midlands Zesto restaurant is closing its doors. What to know

A longtime Midlands restaurant known for its burgers and more is closing its doors.

Zesto at 1250 Chapin Road in Chapin announced in a Thursday night Facebook post that it is closing. The last day will be Friday, May 3, according to the post.

“As the saying goes, this is bittersweet,” the Zesto of Chapin social media post said. “But after 18 years of serving the town of Chapin, we have made the decision to close the doors permanently. ... We will genuinely miss some of the best customers imaginable and we treasure the relationships we have made.

“Chapin has been so good to us and we are so blessed to have been a part of this community for almost 2 decades!!”

Zesto has long served burgers, fries, broasted chicken, milkshakes, ice cream and more.

Other Zesto locations still operating in the Midlands include spots in West Columbia, on North Main Street in Columbia, and on Forest Drive in Forest Acres.

The Zesto of Chapin closure announcement drew an immediate reaction on Facebook. The post had more than 200 comments and had been shared more than 380 times as of Friday morning. Many of the commenters expressed sadness at the closure and shared fond memories of the restaurant.

The post from Zesto of Chapin also included a verse from Scripture, from John 15:12: “My commandment is this: love each other as I have loved you.”
