A restaurant with Asian and Latin flavors has circled an opening date for a new location in the Midlands.

TakoSushi, which has several restaurants across the region, will have a grand opening of its new Forest Acres spot on Tuesday, May 14, according to a post on the restaurant’s social media channels. The location is in the Forest Park shopping center in the 4700 block of Forest Drive.

That shopping center is anchored by a Lowes grocery store and also features Eggs Up Grill and a number of other businesses. The new TakoSushi will be in the location that formerly was home to a Baskin Robbins ice cream place.

TakoSushi has continued to grow its footprint across the Midlands and elsewhere. It has a location at the Arcade Mall on Main Street in downtown Columbia, as well as spots in Greenville, Aiken and the Augusta area. There also are plans for a TakoSushi location on Main Street in downtown Lexington, not far from the Icehouse Amphitheater.

The TakoSushi brand is one of several restaurant concepts offered by the Food People Restaurant Group.

The restaurant has a menu that offers sushi and other Asian dishes, as well as tacos, nachos and other Latin-inspired favorites.

The new TakoSushi is coming to a bustling, high-traffic corridor of Forest Acres that is lined with restaurants, shops and other services. About 27,000 cars per day travel down that section of Forest Drive, per S.C. Department of Transportation statistics.
