A new Midlands restaurant with Brazilian flavors sets opening date. Here’s when it debuts
A taste of Brazil is coming to Lexington.
Rio Express Grill Brazilian BBQ is set to debut at 5594-B Sunset Blvd. in Lexington. According to multiple posts on the restaurant’s social media pages, it has planned its opening for June 10.
“Join us for a taste of authentic Brazilian cuisine, including our mouth-watering brisket dishes!” the restaurant said in a recent Facebook post.
In another Facebook post, Rio Express touted the Brazilian touches that will be a part of the restaurant, including bossa nova music.
“By combining barbecue with Bossa Nova, our churrascaria seeks to offer not only delicious and traditional dishes but also an immersion in the culture and unique atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro, where music is an integral part of everyday life,” the restaurant offered.
Per food website Mashed, a churrascaria is “a type of restaurant where a variety of meats are cooked churrasco-style, or skewered and cooked over a flame.”
Rio Express is touting “succulent meats” and sides, including lamb marinated in white wine and lemon pepper, tender pork shoulder marinated in white wine and orange, prime picanha sirloin steak and more.
Rio Express Grill will be located in a shopping center that includes a Verizon store, a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop, a Chipotle, a Fleet Feet shoe store and more. The strip is located along a bustling retail and commercial corridor. More than 37,000 cars per day pass down that stretch of Sunset Boulevard near North Lake Drive, according to state Department of Transportation statistics.
